Use of Allogran-R® in L4 to S1 instrumented posterolateral fusion

Presentation

A female patient aged 55 presented with grade I spondylolisthesis at the L5 / S1 level. Marked facet joint arthrosis at the L5 / S1 level was apparent.

Operation

The lateral gutters and facets of S1, L5 and L4 were decorticated with a burr. Allogran-R and autograft was laid over the decorticated surfaces. Pedicle screws were inserted, and rods were then contoured and applied. The site was then closed.

The patient demonstrated good movement.

Follow-up

At two months follow-up, the x-rays indicated early fusion in the lateral gutters.

The patient reported very little pain and was pleased with the outcome.
