A female patient aged 58 presented with a periprosthetic fracture of the right femur. The fracture was plated and wired. However, at 6 months post-operative, catastrophic failure of the fixation occurred.
The femoral implant was revised with a long-stemmed prosthesis, in addition to replating and rewiring the fracture. Allogran-R bone graft was placed at the decorticated fracture site.
At 14 weeks post-operative, the implant and fracture site were stable. There was radiographic evidence of fracture consolidation.
