Clinical particulars
74-year-old female with hybrid hip arthroplasty done in 2009, sustained periprosthetic fracture Vancouver B1 fixed with NCB plate (Zimmer Biomet) and cable in October 2017. At 5 weeks post operatively, the patient slipped and fell sustaining another fracture distal to the NCB plate.

Treatment
The distal screws of the NCB plate were removed and another NCB plate was used by piggyback technique and STIMULAN Rapid Cure applied to both proximal and distal femoral fractures.

STIMULAN was applied to act as an osteoconductive material to fill the resulting dead space and carry the antibiotic.

Outcome
8 months post operatively the proximal and distal femoral fractures healed completely with complete absorption of STIMULAN.
